This Privacy Policy describes how Recory ("we," "our," or "the App") handles information in connection with your use of the Recory application available on the Apple App Store. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
By using Recory, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms described herein, please discontinue use of the App.

All content you create within Recory — including photographs, journal entries, text overlays, and associated metadata — is stored exclusively on your device in the App's private local storage. This data is:
If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your device's contents — including data stored by Recory — may be included in encrypted backups managed entirely by Apple, Inc. This backup process is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and is outside of our control.
Recory does not independently integrate with iCloud Drive, CloudKit, or any other Apple cloud synchronization service. We do not access, read, or write to your iCloud account.
To manage your iCloud Backup settings, visit Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup on your iPhone.
Recory requests access to your device's camera in order to capture photographs. This permission is used solely for the purpose of taking photos within the App. We do not:
You may revoke camera access at any time via Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera on your iPhone. Revoking this permission will disable photo capture functionality within the App.
Recory may request access to your device's location while the App is in use solely to display current weather conditions on the home screen. Your approximate location coordinates are transmitted to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), an open-source weather service, to retrieve weather data for your area. Specifically:
Open-Meteo's handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy, available at open-meteo.com/en/terms.
You may revoke location access at any time via Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services on your iPhone. Revoking this permission will disable the weather display feature but will not affect any other App functionality.
Recory does not integrate any third-party analytics platforms, advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or social media SDKs. The App does, however, communicate with the following external services for specific functional purposes:
Beyond the services listed above, we do not share your data with any third parties because we do not collect any data to share.
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect certain information as part of the App Store distribution process. This collection is governed solely by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Recory does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13, or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction. Because Recory collects no personal data from any user, it presents no special risk to minors. However, the App is intended for general audiences, and parental supervision is encouraged for younger users.
Because all data remains on your device, the security of your journal content is directly tied to your device's security settings. We strongly recommend enabling a device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID to protect your content from unauthorized access. We have no ability to access, recover, or reset your data in the event of device loss or damage.
Since Recory does not collect or store any personal data on external systems, there is no personal data held by us to access, correct, export, or delete. All content you create is under your direct control on your device. You may delete all App data at any time by uninstalling Recory from your device.
European Economic Area (GDPR): If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data. Because Recory does not collect or process personal data on any server, these rights are satisfied by design — your data never leaves your device. To the extent location coordinates are transiently processed by Open-Meteo (see Section 6), that processing is performed by an independent controller under their own legal basis. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. Recory does not collect, sell, share, or disclose personal information as defined under the CCPA. No action is required on your part to exercise these rights — we have no personal data about you to disclose, sell, or delete.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality or applicable legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
